Weekend Finds & Sweets & SPECIAL for 400th post

 

Whilst I might not be doing much this week in the way of crafting owing to feeling like someone just dug me up and then whacked me on the back of the head with a shovel, which reminds me of a conversation I had with someone several months back, I have been trying my utmost to do stuff with my week off from work, though it's only been in the past couple that I've actually felt as though I could. Not over dramatic? Nah, just a cold I can't seem to shift.

So anyway why talk about germs when you as you can see above I was charity shop trawling today, good fun it was too, so with a small supply of cash and a never ending packet of tissues, of course using one of my pocket tissue holders. Naturally. I went around, whilst most didn't yield anything interesting the first two did, in the form of a small Latin dictionary, Sherlock Holmes stories, and two rather delightful machine lace collars from Laura Ashley. Of course I have no idea what the hell I am going to do with them, but it does spring to mind a girl that I follow on Flickr who wore her grandmothers old collars. As for whether or not I wear these two, I am not sure. I don't have many things that I could possible attach them too. So it might be something I put to one side as long as I don't forget I have them. Either way they didn't cost a whole lot and I couldn't bring myself to leave them.


Oh, and when I was out and about came across a retro sweet store, it was awesome and I must remember it's there because they sold the small glass bell jars which you could fill sweets, such an awesome gift idea and I am totally going to be doing this. If I know you and your reading this, do act surprised if you get presented with one! I had to get one for myself, and had it filled with sherbet pips my favourite. So now I have a small jar sitting on my desk, and yeah there will be more of these bought. Because they are seriously so cool, and makes buying sweets just a little more exciting, special and one off then just nipping down the road and picking up a cheap bar of chocolate. Weirdly Cadburys just doesn't have the same appeal any more compared to a jar of boiled coloured sweets.

I shall leave you now with a glimmer a fraction of something I am working on for my sister, I won't show it all because my blog is linked to my facebook fan page and I know she reads whatever I post. So sis if you see this, I know you will know what it is, but this is as much as your going to see until sproglet comes into the world. X


Now everyone go forth, drink tea, relax, be safe, be warm and above all get some old fashioned sweets and pop them in a pretty jar.

A Flurry of Posting

Rather pleased with the photograph of my sketchbook finally figured out one of the settings on my camera and I've had it what five years now? Yeah, not one to bother getting new technology if what I have still working. Of course if I don't have something, then I'm likely to buy it. I am a gadget lover. Sadly my current pay packet doesn't stretch that far to get what I would love all the time.

Anyway this is work potentially going to be started soon, playing about perhaps and see if it turns out the way I want it to.

Finally figured out what I was going to do with this picture, and how I was going to finish it. There you go. I thought trying to make it

I decided that trying to make it work as an actual clock face wasn't going to work, and rather risk ruining it, because I am rather pleased with the outcome of the stitching I opted to just simply frame it the way I had originally intended on doing. Always the way.

Okay the actual pocket watches are pretty much stitched, a few loose ends to sew in and the hands on the left hand clock are to be stitched, well in theory.

I'm working on the following thoughts, and I really can't decide what to do. The likely hood is this is one off, 99% of my work tends to be.

+ Left hand clock, I place actual clock fixture there. Perhaps making the hands slightly off centre in the frame. Make sense?

+ Working clock fixture dead in the middle between the two watches.

+ Leave as is, bar the finishing off and keep it as a picture.

What do you folks think?

WIP: I'm Late

I'm late, I'm late, I'm late

I'm late in actually sitting down and stitching anything, not done anything since last week, and finally today I sat down and started something and I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with it. Will it be a clock or will it just be a bit of artwork, not sure. Will see how it turns out after the second pocket watch is stitched as to whether or not I think it will work in a frame. I do however have another design to do involving a watch again, so I'm sort of treating this one as a bit of a practice run.

Busy, busy day!

With another one set for tomorrow. Finally got a call about my MRI for my knee, and it's tomorrow afternoon, second appointment I have to attend tomorrow after work, so I might treat myself to a McD's on the way home. Sssh I know it's bad, but it tastes so good and like the last one I had was months ago. Notice how I try and justify this. Anyway, moving swiftly on as I have something far more interesting to show:

Squee another new clock!

Can't stop making them, and this one is only slightly like what I originally planned, and I have to say I prefer it. Never considered stitching the hill in chain stitch I was going to do it in satin, but I like the texture, and the way I kept the angle of stitches in one direction. Also love the little apple/french knot on the ground. I have another little house style design in the works, and now that I've done this one I sort of know what to do for that now. Though I do want to make a few tissue holders, not done any for a long time, and I do have some lovely fabrics knocking about waiting to be put into good use.

New Month

Okay where has the month gone? I swear I saw it a moment ago? Actually not sad to see the back of January it's been a bit of a meh sort of month, I know I'm not alone in saying it really is the worst month out of all them. I'm writing this a little all over the place though, so I'd just give you a pre warning, got a stinking cold so feeling rather rotten. Today though trying to get over it and making myself at least try and do something craft base, so I'm not staring at a computer screen which is hurting my eyes. So this might also be a short post.

I forgot to say that I made another clock, and actually since then I've been working on another clock already. I also finally finished answering some interview questions, again won't say what for at this time, I just love the suspense, don't you?

Aside from sneezing, and attempting to craft today what else to mention, well my needlecases were featured in Sew Hip magazine this month. Issue 14 if your interested :D. Whilst my company name wasn't quite right, no space after LAM and that I wanted it linked to my website. I can't complain and it was pretty wicked to see!

Now my eyes are tired, my stomach is rumbling and I'm desperate need of a hot drink. Hope your all well?
